About This Guide

And why it matters

This event uses one continuous scenic picture built from three LED walls and two projection-mapped columns, tied together by a single media-server canvas. Because the surfaces have different sizes, technologies, and viewing characteristics, content that looks great on one destination can fail on another. This guide gives you the exact pixel dimensions for every destination, the full-canvas map, and the technical specs for slides, video, and still artwork.

Following these guidelines ensures your content looks its best on show day — and saves us all from last-minute scrambles over resolutions, file formats, or fonts. If anything here raises a question, please reach out early: cbaldini@avfactory.com

The System

LED walls are ROE Visual GP2.6 (2.6 mm pitch). Columns are lit by portrait-mounted Christie HS-Series 22K laser projectors. Produced show content plays from a Pixera media server; stand-alone speaker videos roll from PlayBack Pro at 1920×1080. You don't need to think about any of that — just hit the pixel counts above and we'll do the rest.

Three Rules That Cover 90% of It

  • Build to the exact pixel dimensions of the destination — never "close enough" 16:9.
  • Keep text and logos inside the safe margin (96 px on LED walls).
  • Columns get big, bold, simple imagery only — no fine text, no busy motion.

The Full Canvas

One picture, five surfaces — 17,502 × 1,873 px

The canvas runs from the outside edge of the Stage Left LED wall to the outside edge of the Stage Right LED wall, including the physical gaps (mullions) between surfaces. It is built at LED-native pixel density (1 px = 2.604 mm), so LED content maps 1:1 with zero scaling. Content that animates across the whole stage — walk-in looks, transitions, environmental textures — should be designed on this canvas (an After Effects comp at 17502 × 1873 with each destination as its own region) so motion travels believably across walls, columns, and the gaps between them. But note: the canvas is a design space, not a deliverable — final renders are exported per destination and sync-rolled at playback. See Full Motion Video.

Vertical alignment: all surfaces are top-aligned at canvas y = 0. The LED walls occupy rows 0–1728; the taller (16'-0") column projection continues down to row 1873. If you build full-canvas content, remember the bottom 145 rows only appear on the columns.
A note for the pixel-purists: the canvas is built at LED density (9.75 px/inch). The projectors actually resolve slightly finer (10 px/inch), so column zones in full-canvas content are gently resampled by the media server. Design at canvas scale and don't worry about it — but deliver standalone column content at true 1080×1920.

Each column is served by a portrait-mounted 22K laser projector with a 1080 × 1920 raster that is deliberately wider than the column — the beam overshoots ~2'-0" (240 px) past each side so we can use the full 16'-0" of height.

  • Center 600 px — lands on the 5'-0" column surface.
  • Center 200 px ("hero zone") — the only region that reads sharp and undistorted, because the column is a cylinder and the surface curves rapidly away toward the edges.
  • Outer 240 px each side — misses the column entirely. Render this region black or transparent (alpha) so spill stays invisible on the set behind.

Column Content — Read This First

Projection on a curved surface plays by different rules

The columns are 5-foot-wide cylinders lit by projectors, not flat LED. Light hits the center of the column head-on and grazes the sides at an extreme angle, which means focus, brightness, and geometry all fall off rapidly away from the centerline. Content designed like normal screen graphics will look smeared and dim. Content designed like environmental scenery will look fantastic.

  • Paragraph text, bullet lists, captions — any fine text
  • Thin lines, hairline rules, fine patterns or halftones
  • Detailed photography with faces or small subjects
  • Fast cuts, fast motion, or video shot for flat screens
  • Anything critical placed outside the center 200 px
  • Full-white backgrounds (spill halo on the set behind)

Think of the columns as architectural lighting you happen to control, not as two skinny video screens. Their job is to extend the color, energy, and branding of the LED walls into the vertical space — one big idea per column, changed sparingly.
Motion: because the surface is curved, motion appears to accelerate and smear as it approaches the column edges. Keep movement slow (think "screensaver," not "sizzle reel"), vertical rather than horizontal where possible, and avoid strobing. If you're unsure, send us a 10-second test render — we'll preview it in Pixera and tell you straight.

PowerPoint / Slide Decks

Custom slide sizes — one deck per wall format

Slides display full-bleed on the LED walls, so decks must be authored at the wall's aspect ratio — a standard 16:9 deck does not fit a 2:1 or 3:1 wall. You'll build two deck formats: one for the side walls, one for the center wall. Slides never play on the columns.

To set the size: Design → Slide Size → Custom Slide Size, enter the width and height above, and choose "Ensure Fit" if converting an existing deck. Both formats work out to the same scale (172.8 px per slide-inch), so artwork moves cleanly between them.

Deck Guidelines

File format.pptx — one file per deck format, clearly labeled (e.g. SlalomR4_GeneralSession_CenterWall_v3.pptx)
FontsEmbed fonts in the file (File → Options → Save → Embed fonts), and send us any non-standard fonts separately to avoid substitution surprises.
Minimum text size18 pt absolute floor; 24 pt+ recommended. These walls are big, but your back row is far away.
Embedded mediaEmbed all videos/audio in the deck AND provide each media file separately. No linked/streaming media (YouTube, Stream, etc.) — the show network is offline.
Builds & transitionsSimple builds are fine. Avoid exit animations and "random" transitions; they behave unpredictably at non-standard slide sizes.
16:9 decksA presenter who arrives with a standard 16:9 deck will be shown in a centered window with the wall background filling the sides — never stretched. Fine as a fallback; not what you want for a keynote.
Safe margin still applies: keep all text, logos, and critical charts at least 0.56" (96 px) from every slide edge. Backgrounds should still run full bleed.

Why GPU codecs?

Pixera decodes NotchLC and HAP on the graphics card, which is what makes a 17,502-pixel-wide canvas play back without a hiccup. File sizes are larger than H.264 — that's expected and fine. If your renderer can't export these, ProRes 422 LT is a solid fallback; talk to us before inventing a fourth option.

Render Sizes — One File per Destination

Do not deliver a single 17,502-px-wide render. Design in your full-canvas AE comp, then export each destination as its own file. We load them as a synchronized set in Pixera and roll them together frame-locked, so the full-stage picture reassembles perfectly on site.

Stand-Alone Videos via PlayBack Pro — 1920 × 1080

Speaker-support videos, sizzle reels, and other stand-alone 16:9 pieces roll from PlayBack Pro rather than the media server, and appear in a centered 16:9 window on the LED walls (the same treatment as a 16:9 slide deck). These follow the classic spec:

Walk-In / Walk-Out & Break Music

For general ambient music, a Spotify playlist link is all we need — send it with your content delivery and note any tracks that must (or must not) play at specific times. If your organization requires licensed/cleared music only, send us the files instead as .wav or .mp3.

Two quick asks

  • Audio that belongs to a video should stay embedded in that video — separate "sync to picture" audio files are a rehearsal-day time sink.
  • Tell us the vibe and the no-fly list (explicit lyrics? competitor artists?) for anything we might need to fill on the fly.

Why we push for vectors: a vectorized logo can be re-scaled to any surface — including a 20-foot-tall column hit — without going soft. If we have to rebuild a graphic at 2 a.m. before doors, a vector file is the difference between "done in five minutes" and a phone call nobody wants. We never distribute client content outside this event.

VersioningIncrement v1 → v2 → v3 with every change. Please never use "FINAL", "FINAL2", or "FINALfinal" — we've all been there, and it never ends well.
DeadlinesAll show content due 2 weeks before doors (Sept 21, 2026). Anything after that lands in the on-site change queue and is handled as time allows.
DeliveryWeTransfer to cbaldini@avfactory.com for day-to-day deliveries and revisions. For the final show package — GPU codecs add up fast — a hard drive hand-off is welcome (exFAT-formatted so it reads on everything; label the drive with the event name). No email attachments over 20 MB, please.

You can always ask more — we like questions
Why not 24 fps? It's cinematic!
The entire video system runs at 59.94 Hz. A 23.98/24 fps file forces a 3:2 pulldown at playback, which shows up as stutter on camera moves — painfully visible on a 44-foot LED wall. Shoot however you like; render at 29.97 or 59.94.
Can I just deliver one big full-canvas video for everything?
No — please don't. Design at full canvas in your AE comp so everything lines up, then export each destination as its own file (same duration, frame rate, and start frame). We roll them as a frame-locked sync set in Pixera, which keeps every surface pixel-accurate and lets us cue surfaces independently.
What goes in the mullions — the gaps between screens?
Nothing is displayed there; it's physical negative space. In full-canvas content, treat mullions as real gaps: let imagery pass through them naturally. Don't place anything that must be seen in those pixel ranges, and don't "squeeze" artwork to skip over them.
Why are the columns so restricted?
They're cylinders. Only about the middle third of each column faces the audience squarely; the rest curves away, stretching and dimming whatever lands on it. Big, bold, slow content genuinely looks stunning there — fine detail genuinely looks broken. We're saving you from re-doing it.
Can I submit other codecs or formats?
Quite possibly yes — but ask first (cbaldini@avfactory.com) so we can confirm smooth playback before you render a show's worth of finished animation.
Do my slides really need custom sizes?
Yes — the walls are 2:1 and 3:1, and slides show full-bleed. A 16:9 deck can be displayed in a window as a fallback, but custom-size decks are what make this rig look like a million bucks.
